The Dominar 400 is the Pune-based manufacturer’s flagship motorcycle. Bajaj has targeted the bike as a power cruiser; the design too, seems inspired from the Ducati Diavel, the Italian manufacturer’s power cruiser.

Bajaj introduced the ‘Dominar’ brand to give the motorcycle a premium identity and placed it above the Pulsar range in terms of pricing and features. This could also be the beginning of a ‘Dominar’ range of motorcycles. The Dominar 400 sports an all-LED headlamp and tail lamp. It also gets a reverse LCD instrument cluster which displays the speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and rpm meter.

Its twin spar or beam-type perimeter frame houses a 373cc single-cylinder fuel-injected engine that is borrowed from the KTM 390 Duke, although not as aggressive. This retuned liquid-cooled engine produces 34.5bhp at 8000rpm and 35Nm of torque at 6500rpm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with final chain drive and slipper clutch.

The Dominar gets 17-inch shuriken-shaped alloy wheels that are shod with MRF Revz radial rubber; 110mm front and 150mm rear. Braking is done by a 320mm disc up front and a 230mm disc at the rear both held on by BYBRE calipers. The bike also gets an optional dual-channel ABS system. Meanwhile, suspension duties are handled by 43mm conventional telescopic forks for the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear.
